Good Morning America

Well, yeah it's a TV Show... However, it was a beautiful morning. Got up to see the sunrise, and now am off to work on different projects.

So where am I headed? I have no clue. It's the journey that matters. Sometimes life passes you by so quickly you forgot to enjoy the scenery.

Political Compass

Ah... another rant and rave about politics. But... this is different just an objective view at where your political views stand. It's not simply left or right.

Here's mine.

aaaahh... coughing up a storm.. so watching youtube.

So just down with a cold... So watching youtube.com

It can get quite addicting. You start watching one of those catchy videos and next thing you know you're watching the Spice Girls "Wannabe" video or some poor schlub trying out for American Idol or how to power your Ipod with an Onion.

It's content that's deliverable in 2-3 minute increments, pretty much the lifespan of my attention. The only thing that holds my attention for much longer is an engrossing read. Seriously, even porn gets boring after 15 seconds. I mean why do they have the fast-forward button on a VCR anyways.

So yeah, pretty much we are visual creatures, and sometimes I can peruse at things rather quickly. But sometimes, the written word just engrosses me. Especially when someone has something significant to say, and not just any drivel, but actual compelling arguments. I'll expound more on this later, as this is rather vague at the moment, especially without examples to clarify the point. Now was that last sentence a real sentence? I don't know I may have to take a look at a grammar book, as this is mostly unedited mental spewage. It is in a way a stream of consciousness, which is typically non-linear and doesn't quite fit into a box.

The other day, I ran into some PAC group raising funds and awareness for LaRouche. The person I was talking to did not enjoy a nice verbal sparring exchange, rather she proceeded to try to make her point by raising her voice and repeating herself. When asked what do you stand for? Are you a fiscal conservative/liberal, do you believe in a loose interpretation or hard interpretation of the Constitution, are you for more social welfare/capitalism or do you value security over the price of individual liberties.... The answer was rather vague and not satisfying, filling in sound byte of hippie utopia, and she then just gave me a few pamphlets and tried to get rid of me as fast as she could.

What people forget to address is the yin/yang of everything. Like Newton said, for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. Nothing is ever for free, especially in politics. There is always something to gain. Sure there are some out there that want to do good. However, most times, and not ALL times, there is a catch. In some rare instances there is good to be had in this world.

And I do believe in Karma. If not in this life, but in another life. There's a way of things just working out or not working out.

And so, onto the book of Job. I think the Book of Job explains a lot about life. It will all work out in the end. Now getting there, well that's another story.

So, I will close this rambling thought with this:

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

Turn by Turn

Ever wonder how many turns are inside a spider's web?

Philosophy et al...

Hmmn, usually the Holidays bring about an Introspection through your life. I have a lot of people around me who cares. Which is wonderful.

There are quite a few people who do care. So what about the different philosophies? Existentialism? Humanism? What does it all mean?

More questions?

More California Road Trip

So this was on the Oregon Coast with K.Berry. She was a cool travel partner. Was an awesome trip!

Spidey!

Spidey!

Saw this spider by the tree. Can you identify what spider this is?

California Road Trip Picture.

This is a picture I took on the road trip down 101. Overall it's been a good trip.

That was a great trip and the picture speaks for itself.

Enjoy.

Sometimes we are very lucky.

I woke up this morning. I put on my pants on one leg at a time. I can walk to my truck. Drive anywhere I want to.

I could be six feet under. Or behind bars. Or dressed in orange enjoying my stay at club GTMO. Many things have led me to where I am now. And for now, there are no outstanding warrants on me. And all my body parts are still attached to me. Things could've been worse. Much worse.

So I consider myself lucky. There are many paths that could've been.

There are some of my friends who are no longer on this earth. Tragic, yes, but a better place perhaps. Take for example, George Falcon Jr. He was my elementary school classmate. He lived 5 houses down from me. He was doing well. Popular. Athletic. A good friend. We stood up for each other. A family that loved and supported him. He died in a car accident. Went to his funeral and saw a lot of friends. There were many at his funeral. He's a good kid. Sad to see him go. I still have his set of dumbbells that I borrowed from him. Guess I'm not returning them. They're at the bottom of my office closet. Oh well. We had good times...

Another friend. Jay Olguin passed awhile ago. He was my sailing partner. Good kid. Sad how he died and left behind his widow. Our class adopted his wife as our own.

So what's my story. There's not much to tell. I wish there was.

Life just goes on. Kinda weird as we get older that death is a part of life. It is after all a circle of life. Not much point to holding onto things. Eventually everything returns to it's original state.

I'm lucky. And I'm glad. Thank you God.

Wow a conscious stream

A stream of thoughts...hmmn. Just another day which makes you wonder why Bloggers blog at all. And that is the desire to be read. But for now, the readership right now is basically myself. As sometimes this is a journal to be read by strangers and myself.

Seriously, friends don't need to know too much about my thoughts. If I wanted to let them know what I'm thinking, I would've told them already.

My first post....

Ahhh..

So I went to the store today and was amazed at the bombardment of Christmas music and marketing. It was an assault on the senses.

Barnes and Noble.. Uggh. Jingle Jingle, Carol after Carol... Uggh. And the volume turned up enough to annoy and not sooth. Apparently they want bottom line dollars and not perusers.

Yes, Perusers, you know who you are. You are the people who read a whole book without buying at Barnes and Noble. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of them. Barnes and Nobles are all over the country and sometimes on a road trip. I'll stop by one, read a chapter, grab a cup of coffee and then keep on driving on to another Barnes and Noble 100 miles away and read another chapter.

Yes, the perusers can and often do read books without buying, but they are the ones who also impulsively buy....

Especially guide books, how to books, and reference books. While fiction and most non-fiction can be read and put back on the shelf. Just like most other things, once read it goes back on the shelf.

Anyways. The XMAS hype marketing campaign is full bore and it should bore out in Q1 Earning reports.

Bah humbug. If people were this nice all year round, well... it'll be a better place.
