Sometimes we are very lucky.

I woke up this morning. I put on my pants on one leg at a time. I can walk to my truck. Drive anywhere I want to.

I could be six feet under. Or behind bars. Or dressed in orange enjoying my stay at club GTMO. Many things have led me to where I am now. And for now, there are no outstanding warrants on me. And all my body parts are still attached to me. Things could've been worse. Much worse.

So I consider myself lucky. There are many paths that could've been.

There are some of my friends who are no longer on this earth. Tragic, yes, but a better place perhaps. Take for example, George Falcon Jr. He was my elementary school classmate. He lived 5 houses down from me. He was doing well. Popular. Athletic. A good friend. We stood up for each other. A family that loved and supported him. He died in a car accident. Went to his funeral and saw a lot of friends. There were many at his funeral. He's a good kid. Sad to see him go. I still have his set of dumbbells that I borrowed from him. Guess I'm not returning them. They're at the bottom of my office closet. Oh well. We had good times...

Another friend. Jay Olguin passed awhile ago. He was my sailing partner. Good kid. Sad how he died and left behind his widow. Our class adopted his wife as our own.

So what's my story. There's not much to tell. I wish there was.

Life just goes on. Kinda weird as we get older that death is a part of life. It is after all a circle of life. Not much point to holding onto things. Eventually everything returns to it's original state.

I'm lucky. And I'm glad. Thank you God.

We wont see death coming til it's here. I am terrified, by the speed of the past, and the eternity of the future.
